What is the status of the Mobility Orientation Bill?

The objectives of this law are to open up the regions by offering alternatives to the private car; to reduce the environmental footprint of transport; to accelerate the development of innovation and new mobility solutions and finally; to invest more in infrastructure.

To support these axes, certain projects are envisaged at government level, such as: creating low CO2 emission zones, reviewing the bicycle plan, promoting carpooling as an everyday solution, multiplying by five the possibilities of electric recharging in public zones, and creating unique multimodal portals for each region.

At the enterprise level, certain measures will be come into force, such as
the development of an employer mobility plan for companies with more than 50 employees. This remains optional but it is recommended: integrating the home-work Mobility theme into the subjects discussed between the Works Council and the employer, the implementation of the “sustainable mobility package” scheme that will allow employers to take into account different modes of transport (bicycle, carpooling, bus, etc., combined in a “mobility voucher”).

As soon as the final adjustments have been made between the Senate and the National Assembly on the level of responsibility of the local authorities, the LOM law will be adopted.
It provides for a substantial budget and will support many innovative projects to improve the quality of transport, particularly with a view to meeting the government’s commitments on the environment.
