Enviroearth, an environmental consulting firm located in Saint Cannat, near Aix-en-Provence, wanted to reduce the carbon footprint of its employees' commutes. To find a solution tailored to everyone's needs, it chose FATEC to support the development of its Mobility Plan.
Enviroearth employs around twenty people with a relatively young average age, around 25-30 years old, and a strong environmental awareness. Thus, although the company is located in a suburban area, commutes to work in "solo cars" represented only 40% of journeys, even though the latest Vinci Autoroutes barometer indicates that nearly 86% of drivers are alone in their cars during peak hours.
The SME therefore wanted to take action and structure its existing system by proposing less impactful, more equitable, and accessible travel solutions for all employees. In this context, FATEC's mobility consulting division assisted Enviroearth in the collaborative development of an employer mobility plan tailored to the specific travel needs of its employees.
This plan was established in three stages: a mobility diagnosis, the co-construction of an action plan with employees and management, and support for deployment.
A targeted needs assessment
“ Before the start of the project, we advised the company on conducting an internal survey to gain a clear understanding of employees’ commuting patterns, ” explains Katia Lehnert, mobility consultant at FATEC. “ We then analyzed the results and carried out an accessibility study of the site to determine the potential for modal shift .”
The mobility assessment was presented at a meeting with management and defined the framework for implementing the project: “ This initial analysis was beneficial for the company ,” says Elise Favier, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Enviroearth. “ Katia presented the government programs, such as the Sustainable Mobility Package, which cover part of the transportation costs and encourage a reduction in single-occupancy vehicle use. The project's goals and limitations were also clearly defined. ”
A co-creation workshop
FATEC adjusted the mobility diagnosis by inviting employees to a collective workshop, to give them a voice on home-to-work mobility, alternatives to the private car, and to co-create an action plan that meets their specific needs.
Tailored support and sustainable solutions
Following these steps, FATEC proposed several concrete actions that the SME can implement immediately:
- The installation of bicycle parking racks in its car park to encourage cycling
- The best carpooling app to manage the pickup and reimbursement of carpoolers
- Creating momentum around the mobility plan through regular internal communication
The collaborative development of an employer mobility plan with FATEC enabled Enviroearth to find sustainable and rapid solutions to improve and decarbonize commuting. “We truly appreciated the time invested by the FATEC teams in providing us with the best solutions. We also benefited from direct access to experts for its practical implementation. Our employer mobility plan will surely encourage companies in the Aix-en-Provence industrial zone to join our initiative,” concludes Elise Favier.
“ For FATEC, this support for companies in reducing their carbon impact related to mobility is fully in line with our 2030 strategy, which aims to reduce our own impact (direct and indirect) by 40%. In this perspective, FATEC is committed to and acts in favor of more responsible home-to-work mobility which also contributes to the well-being of employees, the increase in their purchasing power and the improvement of the employer brand, while preserving an economic model that is viable in the long term ,” explains Katia Lehnert, responsible mobility consultant at FATEC.
