Where an offence established in accordance with the procedures laid down in Article L. 130-9 has been committed with a vehicle of which the holder of the registration certificate is a legal entity or which is owned by a legal entity, the legal representative of this legal entity must indicate, by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt or in a dematerialised form, according to the terms specified by order, within forty-five days from the sending or delivery of the notice of contravention, to the authority mentioned on the notice, the identity and address of the natural person who was driving the vehicle, unless he establishes the existence of theft, usurpation of licence plates or any other event of force majeure.
Contravention of this article shall be punishable by the fine laid down for contraventions of the fourth class.

The alleged driver of the car will receive the fine at his home. If he was not driving the car at the time of the offence, he will be able to use the request for exoneration by designating the actual driver.
